Hello our awesome riders
Thank you for entering the TIB Insure Berg 100/Lite. We so appreciate your support of our event. THANK YOU. We are so excited to see you and host you on Saturday.
Please see below ALL race details. There will be NO race briefing at the start, so read the below to know where to go else you might get lost!!!!! 😊
Registration:
Friday @ The Notties Hotel from 2 pm to 6 pm. We encourage riders to attend this to save the chaos on Saturday morning. Afterwards, we suggest a lekker meal and drink (not too many!!) at the Notties Hotel. Book a table before.
Saturday @ Notties Primary School Hall from 6 to 6:45 am.
You don’t need to bring anything to this. You can collect for mates, just know their names and surnames. Your race board will have a timing chip on it.
If you have collected your goodie bag and race board and no longer want to ride, PLEASE return your board to us/The Notties Hotel.
If you want to change your entry to the shorter (or longer) version this can be done at the timing table after you have collected your race boards/goodie bag.
Pls note that shirts and goodie bags are limited so PLEASE don’t be grumpy with the helpers at registration if YOU missed the boat!!! Shirts cannot be changed in size.
NO substitutions are allowed.
Entries are limited/capped for 2025, so NO late entries.
Anyone who just rocks up will be turned around, so pls tell your mates not to waste their time.
Donations – Pls bring any unwanted cycling kit/gear that you are no longer using (in good condition) and donate it to a very worthy cause – Thobzabike Centre in Kwamashu.
Start Details:
Venue – Notties Primary School on the main field. (Same as previous years)
Please do NOT park on the tar roads or in the driveway. Follow signage for PARKING or obey the parking marshals. The main parking is at the rear of the school, accessed down the lane between the school and St Johns Church. Overflow parking is available at Midlands Community College.
Please dont clog up the streets around the venue. We are in a small community and want to be allowed back again.
Start Times:
109km - MTB and Gravel bikes will start in 1 batch at 7 am sharp. Please “self-batch” yourself in the start chute. If you are a mid-pack rider, don’t stand at the front.
109km – E-Bike will leave when the MTB & gravel have left.
67km – MTB & Gravel will leave in 1 batch – at 7:10
67km – E-Bike – will leave just after the main 67km batch has gone off.
Please be there timeously to ensure you get into the batch. We have one entrance so making sure you are early will help reduce congestion as riders leave the field.
This is a gun start i.e., timing starts “with the gun” (not when you cross the start line)
Courtesy request
PLEASE can we request that the racing snakes DO NOT race through the town of Nottingham Road. This will be a neutral zone. This town is allowing us to use their village, farms and roads, and the least we can do is respect them by riding carefully and obeying the rules of the road through their village. If anyone sees riders being obnoxious idiots, they are welcome to report them, and these riders will be DQ’d.
Route:
GPX files downloadable on the buttons above. If for some reason you need another file type, please let us know by email.
There are very few markings on the route, but at any junction, you will find a white A4-sized board with a black arrow, as well as bright pink stickers. Follow these. If in doubt, go straight!!!!
PLEASE if you see any CAUTION signs, we strongly suggest you abide by these as there are a few sections of the road where there are quite serious water dongas or very sharp bends! Please also look out for pink spray paint on the roads cautioning you of hazards (rocks/holes etc).
We don’t comfort mark, so where there are markings, it is for YOUR benefit.
This is a public road, and the road is NOT closed during the race, so YOU are responsible for yourself – use normal road caution and be aware of cars, taxi’s, tractors, cattle, children and people. Obviously be awesome and help others if they need it.
SPLITS – At 17kms the 109km and 67km routes will split! Pay attention. It will be signposted. 67km turn left, 109km go straight.
Normal CSA rules apply – no earphones, no go-pros etc.
Please also be conscious that you are riding through people’s farms and villages so respect them and give them space to get past. PLEASE PLEASE.
Any route issues or if you lost call Devlin 0837993003
Water Tables:
109km route – there are 4 tables along the route @ 30 / 57 / 78 / 97kms
67km route - there are 2 tables long the route @ 34 / 55kms
The tables will have water, coke and a selection of food – potatoes, bananas, sweet yummy things and some Squirt Lube/Anti Chafe (NO Double dipping please!!)
Finish route - NB - READ THIS PLEASE.
We have a unique and exciting route to get back into town, due to the obvious challenge of getting 1000 riders through a busy village, ensuring rider safety, and keeping the traffic department happy!
The finish line for timing will be on the last downhill into Notties on the tar road. It will be sign posted. Your time will finish here for race results.
From the finish line, RIDE SLOWLY, single file, into town following your GPS route and the signage. You will turn left at SPAR/ENGEN T-junction, and then ride 300 meters to the FORGE AGRI on your left. Here you can dismount and then our helpers will assist those who need to go up and over the railway on the pedestrian bridge. Please be careful crossing the road and the bridge. Follow signage as you come down off the bridge at the Notties hotel. This will route you to the left and into the finish at the School.
Phones:
We request that for your safety you ride with your phone. And KEEP YOUR PHONE ON YOU!!!
Cut off & Sweep:
Cut Off @ 2:00 at 76km (water table 3)
Additionally, we reserve the right to withdraw anyone we feel will not safely finish the race by 4pm.
There will be a Sweep vehicle behind the 109km route and a sweep behind the 67km.
